since 2011<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Jean-Paul Lehners served as the inaugural chairholder from 2011 to 2019. He was succeeded in 2019 by Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fhse-en\/people\/robert-harmsen\/\">Robert Harmsen<\/a> and current Dean for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fhse-en\/\">Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Established in 2011, the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights addresses &#8211; following an interdisciplinary approach &#8211; key issues related to human rights, especially those that fall within UNESCO\u2019s competence as well as the UNESCO Strategy on Human Rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UNESCO Chair in Human Rights acts as a builder of bridges between research and policy-making, academia and civil society, local communities and the private sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chair acts as a think-tank on UNESCO&#8217;s priority themes, namely the South-South Cooperation and North-South-South Triangular Cooperation as well as equal opportunities. Moreover, the commitments of the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights correspond to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/about\/profile\/mission-strategy-values\/\">the Mission Statement of the University of
