Brain-body communication in health, stress, and disease

Our research group addresses the communication between the brain and peripheral body organs in ascending (i.e. from the body to the brain) and descending direction. Two examples are interoception (the perception of internal body signals) and stress. We investigate how brain-body communication contributes to health and disease, such as mental disorders with somatic symptoms or chronic conditions.
