Nicolas da Silva is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (CCY), Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE), University of Luxembourg.
Research
His research interests and experience include citizenship education, youth participation, place-based education, rural and low-density contexts, and participatory methodologies, such as participatory action research, having published several articles in peer-reviewed academic journals. He also serves as an expert evaluator, appointed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) under the European Commission.
Work experience
Between 2019 and 2024, he was a Research Fellow at the Centre for Educational Research and Intervention – University of Porto (CIIE, University of Porto, Portugal). Before that, he was a secondary education teacher at several schools in Portugal, teaching Portuguese and French languages.
Educational background
Dr. Nicolas da Silva holds a European PhD in Education Sciences, a Bachelor in Languages, Literature, and Cultures from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (FLUP), a Master’s degree in Language Teaching from the same Faculty (FLUP), a Master’s degree in Education Sciences from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP), and a postgraduate degree in Education Administration of Educational Organizations from the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (ESE-IPP).
