{"id":263,"date":"2018-12-19T09:12:48","date_gmt":"2018-12-19T09:12:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/website.prod.unilu.spikeseed.cloud\/fdef-fr\/news\/happy-trails-to-our-colleague-julian-presber\/"},"modified":"2018-12-19T09:12:48","modified_gmt":"2018-12-19T09:12:48","slug":"happy-trails-to-our-colleague-julian-presber","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fdef-fr\/news\/happy-trails-to-our-colleague-julian-presber\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy trails to our colleague, Julian Presber"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-free-section section\"><div class=\"container xl:max-w-screen-xl\"><p>The Luxembourg School of Finance wishes all the best to Julian Presber, Master programme coordinator and financial centre liaison, who is retiring from his post in December.<\/p><p>Julian Presber joined the LSF in 2009, following a successful career in the Luxembourg financial sector at State Street and Clearstream. \u00a0In his role at the LSF, he helped build stronger relations between the school and the industry. In addition to continuous awareness building, he was a leading figure in the design of the Master in Wealth Management, tailored to the Luxembourg financial centre. This effort was conducted jointly with representatives of the Luxembourg Private Banking Group.\u00a0<\/p><p>In addition, Julian was on the ALFI Strategic Board as the University representative, and was the driving force behind the establishment of a major research project involving the creation of a database of Luxembourg investment funds usable for academic research purposes. Such a database exists in the US but not yet in Europe. This project is now coming to fruition and has generated interested on the part of academics worldwide in this field.\u00a0<\/p><p>Julian interacted with FDEF faculty and the financial centre to seek specialised instructors for some of the Master\u2019s courses.\u00a0 He also introduced a suite of soft skills courses to better prepare students for the realities of the job market. \u00a0Three years ago, he founded the LSF Recruitment Week, which every year welcomes around 25 companies to present themselves to students for internships and placements. Among other efforts to provide meaningful internships to LSF Master\u2019s students, this allows the soon-to-be graduates to get a clearer idea of different job profiles available as well introducing companies to the talent pool available.<\/p><p>\u201cIt has been a privilege to work at the LSF, within the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, and in the University for the development of the University\u2019s position, its role in Luxembourg, and its benefit to all stakeholders.\u00a0 I have learned a lot, made many friends, and will always look back fondly to my years there.\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cJulian has been a tireless colleague and an ambassador for the LSF both in Luxembourg and abroad,\u201d says Prof. Jang Schiltz, Head of the LSF. \u201cHe helped enrich the experience of our students, and worked to bring the LSF closer to the financial centre. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Julian over the years.
