My ultimate objective is to systematically present and analyse the role of the European Central Bank (ECB) as a monetary and banking supervisory authority in the euro area. In addition, I highlight the role of the ECB in macro-prudential financial oversight and in relation to the resolution of credit institutions, as well as its limited (but still important) powers in respect of last-resort lending to solvent EU credit institutions exposed to liquidity risk.
