A few examples of these types of contracts will be discussed.<\/p><p>It is well-known that flexible contracts help companies improve their financial performance and manage procurement risks properly. However, in certain situations, long term contracts alone, despite being flexible, may not be the solution.<\/p><p>Consequently, the value of procurement (and possibly selling) in spot markets will be discussed. Few examples from industry and different forms of \u201chybrid (long term contracts and spot markets) policies\u201d will be provided.<\/p><p><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"professor-mustafa-cagri-gurbuz-biography\"\n    >\nProfessor Mustafa \u00c7agri G\u00fcrb\u00fcz biography:<\/h4>\n<p>Mustafa \u00c7agri G\u00fcrb\u00fcz is Professor of Supply Chain Management at the MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program. He is also a Research Affiliate at the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics. He completed his PhD at the Department of Management Science at the University of Washington in July 2006. He earned his BS and MS degrees from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Bilkent University, Turkey in 1999 and 2001, respectively.<\/p><p>His main research interests are inventory and supply chain management, optimizing distribution systems, contracts, and modeling operations systems. Mr. Gurbuz has been a consultant to AT&#038;T Wireless, AREX, and RENFE.
