The Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition regional rounds took place from 8 to 10 February 2021.\u00a0The University of Luxembourg team qualified for the second time for the International Rounds that will be held by the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights in the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford in April 2021.\u00a0<\/p>

This year\u00a0the\u00a0team is composed of Deborah Tosi, Lisa Beckers, Vanessa Bemtgen and Sarah Paquet. The team is coached by PhD students Angelica Fernandez and Arron McArdle under the supervision of Prof. Mark Cole<\/a>.\u00a0Highlighting how the students are able to apply what they learn in the classroom to the Moot Court environment, Prof. Cole commented,\u00a0\u201cAgain we see a great success which shows how media law research and teaching in our Masters programme go hand-in-hand and prepare the teams well,\u00a0but most importantly with the valuable support of the coaches,” added Prof. Cole, acknowledging the dedication of the PhD students to their Moot Court teams.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Competing against 12 other teams from Northern Europe, the University of Luxembourg took 4th place in this international competition and won the two rounds it competed in. We congratulate them on\u00a0this achievement and success of this team and wish them luck in the international rounds.<\/p>

The Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court<\/a>\u00a0aims to foster and cultivate interest in freedom of expression issues and the role of the media and information technologies in societies around the world. This year’s moot court case focused on disinformation on social media and the interplay with freedom of assembly in the context of a health crisis and at times of political unrest.<\/p>
