The workshop “Norm-setters in the contemporary world” organised by DTU REMS II took place virtually from 17 November to 19 November 2020. \u00a0The purpose of the workshop was to explore and understand shifts from formal legitimacy to practical effectiveness in rule-making\u00a0and enforcement mechanisms in a multi-level setting.\u00a0<\/p>

The workshop was organised collaboratively by a committee of the students of the DTU, including Bianca Nalbandian, Lisette Mustert, Angelica Fernandez, and Pavlina Hubkova under the coordination of Prof. Mendes<\/a> and with the support of post-doc Dr.\u00a0Marketou.\u00a0Initially planned as a hybrid workshop, it was switched to a full virtual mode at the last minute given the new sanitary restriction at the University of Luxembourg. Nevertheless, it allowed for a stimulating academic exchange between participants. Alongside the PhD candidates of the DTU REMS II, 11 distinguished external lecturers participated. Notably, the conference included the participation of CJEU AG Michal Bobek, who provided his insights on the overall topic of this conference.\u00a0<\/p>

Prof. Joana Mendes, DTU REMS II coordinator, underlined the importance of the workshop, \u201cthe discussion brought to light important academic questions, on which the REMS II researchers will work further,\u201d explained Mendes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

REMS II (The\u00a0Doctoral Training Unit\u00a0on Enforcement in Multi-Level Regulatory Systems II)<\/a> is a joint research programme of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF) and the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law (MPI Luxembourg). DTU-REMS-II follows up on, deepens and expands the first DTU research programme on Enforcement in Multi-level Regulatory Systems which has been running at the University of Luxembourg since 2017.<\/p><\/div><\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
