Hofmann gives talk on the Future of International Data Flows"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-free-section section\"><div class=\"container xl:max-w-screen-xl\"><p>On 6 November, University of Luxembourg Law professor, Herwig Hofmann, led a discussion on the International Transfer of Data hosted by the Luxembourg Permanent Representative to the EU.<\/p><p>Mr. Georges Ternes, Deputy Permanent Representative of\u00a0Luxembourg\u00a0to the European Union, opened the debate while MEP Christophe Hansen as well as Mr. Bruno Gencarelli of the EU Commission participated as respondents and discussants.<\/p><p>The debate centred on the recent judgements of the Court of Justice of the European Union, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwen.uni.lu\/universite\/actualites\/latest_news\/uni_lu_law_professor_develops_winning_arguments_in_cjeu_schrems_ii\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Schrems II<\/a>, which have shown that international transfers of personal data outside the EU have to be fully compliant with the applicable framework and the charter of fundamental rights.\u00a0<\/p><p>Participants discussed how to secure the sustainability of international data flows alongside efforts to provide legal certainty and clarity for businesses and citizens alike.
