Klausman Women in Business Scholarship celebrated three exceptional recipients from the Department of Economics at the University of Luxembourg. This program, run by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zonta.org\/\">Zonta International<\/a> and the local Zonta clubs in Luxembourg, recognizes women pursuing business degrees and aims to address the gender imbalance in leadership and decision-making roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fdef-en\/people\/skerdilajda-zanaj\/\">Skerdi Zanaj<\/a>, Full Professor of Economics and Gender Equality Officer at the University of Luxembourg, opened the ceremony and congratulated the awardees. She emphasized the importance of supporting women\u2019s leadership and advancement in business. Prof. Irmen highlighted the slow but steady progress of women professors in Economics, and Ms. Matthijssens emphasized that \u201cEducation and equality in education are among Zonta International&#8217;s four key focus areas. This commitment is reflected in the educational programs aimed at ensuring equal access and opportunities for women and girls. Together, these projects represent a global investment of $1,415,000.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"2024-scholarship-recipients\"\n    >\n<strong>2024 Scholarship Recipients<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"ulux-list\">\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>Arta Sinamati<\/strong>: Arta founded a social business in high school that combined traditional Albanian craftsmanship with innovation, establishing the first Artisans Hub in her hometown, Kuk\u00ebs. A passionate advocate for gender equality, Arta is currently pursuing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fdef-en\/study-programs\/master-in-wealth-management\/\">Master in Wealth Management<\/a>, where she leads her cohort academically. Arta received a local and district prize.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>Omobola Munirat Giwa<\/strong>: Omobola is an aspiring entrepreneur and innovator with a background in law and entrepreneurship. She focuses on cross-cultural impact, connecting European distressed asset markets with Nigerian buyers through initiatives like TUNLO Luxembourg. She is currently pursuing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fdef-en\/study-programs\/master-in-entrepreneurship-and-innovation\/\">Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation<\/a> at the University of Luxembourg. Omobola received a local award but is also a winner at the international level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>Kareen Xu<\/strong>: Kareen is an experienced professional whose career began in HR and product management before transitioning to research in economics. Her work examines the impact of technology on workplaces and gender disparities. It reminds me of the importance of uplifting others as I climb, fostering spaces where dreams can thrive regardless of gender, and leading with integrity and impact. Together, we are shaping a world where aspirations know no limits.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her remarks, Kareen shared a similar feeling, saying, \u201cThis award not only recognizes my efforts in academia and business endeavors but also inspires me to continue striving for meaningful impact in my field and beyond. With this encouragement, I am more determined than ever to pursue my goals and make a lasting difference.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Echoing this sentiment of gratitude and purpose, Omobola, who was recognized at both the local and international levels, thanked the Foundation saying, \u201cFor me, this award goes beyond acknowledging one\u2019s achievements and potential; it is a testament to the transformative power of women standing together &#8211; supporting each other across differences in age, race, professions, and experiences &#8211; a power that is both inspiring and essential in addressing the inequalities we face in society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"about-the-scholarship\"\n    >\n<strong>About the Scholarship<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship, established by Zonta International in 1998, supports women pursuing undergraduate and Master\u2019s degrees in business management. Designed to break gender barriers in leadership, the scholarship helps women progress from the classroom to the boardroom. It honors Jane M. Klausman, a Zonta member and accomplished professional who championed women\u2019s empowerment in business. Empowering Women in Business: Celebrating the 2024 Jane M. Klausman Scholarship Recipients.
