Zetzsche joins IMF and ESRB advisory groups"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-free-section section\"><div class=\"container xl:max-w-screen-xl\">\n<p>In August 2024, Dirk A. Zetzsche, Full Professor in Financial Law and Chairholder of the ADA Chair in Financial Law (Inclusive Finance),&nbsp;accepted two nominations to serve on advisory groups for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the&nbsp;European&nbsp;Systemic Risk Board&nbsp;(ESRB)&nbsp;which is hosted by the European Central Bank (ECB). Prof. Zetzsche, whose research interests focus heavily on both the law and regulation of inclusive finance, as well as the emergence of fintech and more specifically cryptoassets, will work together with other industry and academic experts to inform and guide decision-making.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the IMF, Prof. Zetzsche will join the\u00a0Financial Access Survey\u00a0Advisory Group. The Group provides strategic advice to the IMF on\u00a0how to measure financial inclusion, a key\u00a0policy\u00a0concern\u00a0among regulators focusing on\u00a0financial inclusion today. Aspects\u00a0include\u00a0the scope and coverage of\u00a0the Financial Access Survey\u00a0data collection, its methodology, usage, and outreach.\u00a0The group\u2019s current focus is on finding ways to accurately measure the gender gap of financial inclusion through the analysis of sex-disaggregated data.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative is generously endorsed by Her Majesty Queen M\u00e1xima&nbsp;of the Netherlands&nbsp;in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General\u2019s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA).&nbsp;Professor Zetzsche\u2019s nomination was supported by the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance as well as the Alliance for Financial Inclusion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Zetzsche will also join the\u00a0Crypto-Assets Task Force which advises the European Systemic Risk Board which is hosted\u00a0by the European Central Bank.\u00a0This\u00a0internal task force\u00a0was initially established \u201cto develop\u00a0a common understanding of crypto-assets and assess their potential impact on some of its core areas of responsibility: monetary policy, financial stability, payments and market infrastructures\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecb.europa.eu\/press\/intro\/mip-online\/2019\/html\/1906_crypto_assets.en.html\"><em>European Central Bank<\/em><\/a><em>, 2019<\/em>).
