The steep rise in attention and possibilities around AI topics in the recent years and months have put the question of how to position research institutions in this debate and which positions to take vis-\u00e0-vis AI solutions in the core of academic debate. This concerns not only the reliance of policy discussions on input by research institutions and individual researchers, but also the way of integrating or dealing with AI in the teaching context. Such questions are not limited to individual institutions, but as a fundamental challenge for academia altogether there are attempts of aligning approaches on international level and benefitting from joint work in academic networks. This lecture will present some of the issues that universities are facing and some of the avenues that are pursued in response.
