With the overarching intention to make Europe \u2018Fit for the Digital Age\u2019, the European Commission has been releasing new texts regulating a number of technology topics, including<strong> data uses, online platforms, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence<\/strong>. This talk will present three phenomena which are common to these regulatory initiatives: <strong>act-ification, GDPR mimesis, and regulatory brutality<\/strong>. By analyzing these elements, it will be possible to grasp a new European technology law-making paradigm that seems to be emerging. Indeed, they divulge a new-found confidence on the part of the EU digital technologies legislator, who is being asserting for itself the right to form policy options and <strong>create new rules in the field <\/strong>for all of the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-spacer is-spacer-size-sm\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"about-the-speaker\"\n    >\nAbout the speaker<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/researchportal.vub.be\/en\/persons\/vagelis-papakonstantinou\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dr Vagelis Papakonstantinou<\/a><\/strong> is a Professor on Personal<strong> <\/strong>Data Protection Law at the Faculty of Law &amp; Criminology of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, focusing also on Cybersecurity, Intellectual Property, and the broader topic of technology regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-spacer is-spacer-size-sm\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"language\"\n    >\n<strong>Language<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>English. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a free hybrid event. Registration is mandatory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will run from 12.30 until 14.00.
