The growth in inequality was extremely concentrated with just 5% of industries accounting for all of the increase in between-industry variance. The rise in inequality was predominantly driven by rising employment in low-paying industries and to a lesser extent by increasing earnings of high-paying industries. The patterns of rising inequality in Italy are remarkably similar to the ones identified for the USA which suggests a common explanation centred around industry-level labour demand shifts.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-spacer is-spacer-size-sm\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"about-the-speaker\"\n    >\nAbout the speaker<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sevirodriguezmora.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jos\u00e9 Rodriguez Mora<\/a> is a Professor of Economics at the University of Edinburgh.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-spacer is-spacer-size-sm\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"language\"\n    >\nLanguage<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a free event.
