The lecture will discuss how the existing regulatory framework of international investment treaty law (including investment agreements and investment chapters of trade agreements) addresses the issue of environmental protection, with a focus on the regulation of investor conduct. It will examine to what extent the IIL instruments introduce investor obligations, safeguarding environmental common goods. Types of such obligations, as well as the issue of their enforceability, will be considered. The lecture will also comment on the interpretation of relevant treaty provisions, offered by the Investor-State Dispute Settlement practice.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-spacer is-spacer-size-sm\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"speakers\"\n    >\nSpeakers<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Joanna LAM, <\/strong><em>Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen; Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of World Investment &amp; Trade<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><em>Joanna LAM is an established expert in international business law and arbitration.
