The Bachelor in Economics is an academic and generalist program, designed to prepare its graduates to pursue studies, primarily in a Master’s degree, in the field of economics, finance or management, at the University of Luxembourg or abroad.

Objectives

The Bachelor in Economics (BASE):

Our Bachelor aims to prepare students for higher-level studies in economics, business management, finance or related fields. The Faculty offers many opportunities for students to continue their education at graduate-level, including the Master of Science in Finance and Economics, Master of Science in Quantitative Economics and Finance, Master in Wealth Management, Master in Accounting and Audit, Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the Master in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

It can also be the gateway to business schools or master’s degrees in specialties other than those mainly taught, such as politics or economic law, as well as providing access to specialized professional activities in the various banking segments, corporate management as well as national, regional and local government offices.

At the end of the programme, the student is able to:

At the end of the programme, the holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, regardless of the chosen track, will be able to:

• master the main concepts of economics in the field of microeconomics, macroeconomics, finance, economic policy, for the study and interpretation of major contemporary economic problems;
• mobilise the main instruments of organisational management in the framework of accounting and financial analyses;
• use quantitative methods and tools (descriptive statistics, basic econometric and data analysis techniques) to observe and analyse the economy and organisations

At the end of the programme, the holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, who chose the “finance” track, will be able to:

• master the essential notions of finance;
• appreciate the main issues at stake in the international financial markets.

At the end of the programme, the holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, who chose the “Strategy & Innovation ” track, will be able to:

• master certain fundamental aspects of management;
• understand the key elements of strategic analysis, innovation management, digitalisation and logistics.
