SUMMARY:Ukraine in Europe’s legal factory–between war and hope for the rule of law
DESCRIPTION:A conference on the future of Ukraine between war and European integration (with prominent speakers from the University of Charkiw/UA)\n\nAbstract\n\nThe illegal and brutal Russian war of aggression in Ukraine is in its fourth year. It is leaving traces of destruction in its wake. Above all, it is destroying human lives, damaging infrastructure and robbing the future. There is a lot of talk about Ukraine these days. The aim of our forum will be to talk to Ukraine in particular. Our aim is to listen instead of giving advice. The question: what traces does the war leave behind in Ukraine's legal system and what should follow? Not least the official policy of the European Union seems to fail to recognise that Ukraine is working every day on its future integration into the law of the European Union down to the last detail.\n\nThis seminar therefore takes a look inside the Ukrainian law factory. We want to understand what it is like to create, administer or even just teach law in times of war. And above all, we want to know what steps Ukraine has already taken on the road to integration into the European Union - and what remains to be done: not only for Ukraine, but for Europe as a whole.\n\nLanguage\n\nEnglish.\n\nThis is a free event.
