This position constitutes a slight decrease compared to the previous year (where the University ranked 355 worldwide). The University of Luxembourg is now among the&nbsp;<strong>top 26% worldwide<\/strong>&nbsp;(in comparison to top 24% in the previous ranking edition). In the 2026 ranking edition, 8467 institutions were evaluated in the ranking (in comparison to 5663 evaluated institutions than in the previous year) and 112 new universities entered the ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University of Luxembourg has been&nbsp;<strong>improving its performance in the last two years<\/strong>&nbsp;with regard to two indicators:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"ulux-list\">\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>Faculty-student ratio<\/strong>&nbsp;(rank 118 in the 2026 ranking compared to rank 128 In the 2025 ranking)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>Citations per faculty<\/strong>&nbsp;(rank 479 in the 2026 ranking compared to rank 495 in the 2025 ranking)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding the remaining indicators for the QS World University ranking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"ulux-list\">\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>International faculty<\/strong>: the University ranks in position 19 in the 2026 ranking (fall of 3 positions in comparison to the previous ranking); the indicator measures the proportion of faculty members who are international<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>International students<\/strong>: the University ranks in position 33 (compared to position 26 in the previous ranking); the indicator measures the proportion of students who are international<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>Employment outcomes<\/strong>: the University ranks in position 277 (compared to position 240 in the previous ranking); the indicator measures employability of graduates and satisfaction of employers with graduates of the given university based on submitted employment data and a survey of employers conducted by the QS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>International research network<\/strong>: the University ranks in position 566 (compared to rank 495 in the previous ranking). The score of this indicator is based on an index that considers the count of international partners (i.e. higher education institutions) and the count of international locations represented by them, based on the publications (as per Elsevier Scopus). Out of more than 1,500 universities across 104 locations that qualify for the ranking this year, the University occupies<strong> position 355 worldwide.<\/strong> Overall, this places the University <strong>among the top 24% worldwide.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>QS World University Rankings evaluates institutions according to nine indicators, each score is calculated with a maximum of 100 points:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"ulux-list\">\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">Regarding the international character, the University performs excellently, scoring 100 points for both&nbsp;<strong>International Faculty Ratio<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>International Student Ratio<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">Considering the&nbsp;<strong>ratio of academic staff to students,&nbsp;<\/strong>the University performs very well with a score of 81 of 100.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">The University achieves a score of 70 for its&nbsp;<strong>International Research Network,&nbsp;<\/strong>which represents at the same time the distinct count of higher education partner institutions and the distinct locations represented by these.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">With regards<strong>&nbsp;to graduate employment<\/strong>, the University achieves a score of 53. QS ranking uses two indicators to calculate the graduate employment score: data provided by a university and global listings such as&nbsp;<em>Forbes 30 under 30<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">With<strong>&nbsp;regards to citations per faculty<\/strong>&nbsp;per academic staff, the University obtains a positive score of 25. The score is based on Scopus Elsevier count of citation and publications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">The score<strong>&nbsp;for academic and employer reputation&nbsp;<\/strong>is based on data from global surveys in which respondents provide their opinions about the best universities. Out of 690 institutions across 42 locations, the University was ranked in position 182 and among the top 27% in Europe.&nbsp;Here are the results for the University of Luxembourg:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"ulux-list\">\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>International Faculty<\/strong>: 2<sup>nd<\/sup> in Europe, reflecting the ratio of foreign nationals in the academic staff and that most staff members (88% foreign nationals) and academics have an international background.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>International Students<\/strong>: 7<sup>th<\/sup> in Europe, representing the foreign nationals in the student population (60% of students are international students at the University).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>Outbound Exchange Students<\/strong>: 7<sup>th<\/sup> in Europe, based the ratio of foreign nationals among the students. The University developed mobility programmes with over 100 universities around the globe.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>Inbound Exchange Students<\/strong>: 47<sup>th<\/sup> in Europe, taking into account the inbound exchange students within the total student population.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>Faculty Student Ratio<\/strong>: 57<sup>th<\/sup> in Europe, calculated by the proportion of academic staff compared to the number of students.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">Other indicators included the <strong>Employment Outcomes<\/strong>, <strong>Citations per Paper<\/strong>, <strong>Papers per Faculty<\/strong>, as well as <strong>International Research Network<\/strong> and two reputation scores that are based on opinions\u2019 surveys, <strong>Academic Reputation<\/strong> and <strong>Employer Reputation<\/strong>.
