The Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the University of Luxembourg have signed a new multi-year contract (\u201cConvention\u00a0pluriannuelle\u201d) covering the period 2022-2025. The contract defines the public endowment\u00a0financing\u00a0the University, the objectives of the University during the period as well as key performance indicators.<\/p>

\u201cThis multi-annual convention will allow us to implement an ambitious four-year plan, reflecting our long-term priorities,\u201d states Prof. St\u00e9phane\u00a0, Rector of the University of Luxembourg.\u00a0\u201cThe public endowment of the University reaches record levels with a total of 908.3 million euros,\u202fan\u202falmost 17% increase over the previous four-year period. This is a very strong sign of the confidence that the government places in our Institution and it is\u202fparticularly remarkable that this important increase in\u202ffunding happens\u00a0amid\u00a0a pandemic,\u201d the Rector added.\u202fPallage<\/p>

In the next four years,\u00a0the University will place a special focus in its teaching and research\u202fon three major interdisciplinary challenges already identified in its strategic framework: sustainable and\u202fsocietal\u202fdevelopment, medicine and health, and digital transformation.<\/p>

The University foresees,\u00a0among others,\u00a0the creation of an additional interdisciplinary research\u00a0centre\u00a0focusing on environmental systems, enhanced activities in educational science,\u00a0sustainable and digital finance, and the further development of activities related to high performance computing and data science. The University will also undergo an external and independent evaluation of its research activities in 2024.<\/p>
