{"id":7476,"date":"2018-09-05T08:01:03","date_gmt":"2018-09-05T08:01:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/website.prod.unilu.spikeseed.cloud\/en\/news\/first-collective-bargaining-agreement-for-university-employees\/"},"modified":"2018-09-05T08:01:03","modified_gmt":"2018-09-05T08:01:03","slug":"first-collective-bargaining-agreement-for-university-employees","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/news\/first-collective-bargaining-agreement-for-university-employees\/","title":{"rendered":"First collective bargaining agreement for University employees"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-free-section section\"><div class=\"container xl:max-w-screen-xl\"><p>After the signing of a first agreement on working conditions in March 2015, the University of Luxembourg and the union OGBL have now concluded a first collective bargaining agreement, approved by the University&#8217;s Board of Governors at its meeting on 21 July 2018.<\/p><p>The agreement was signed on 4 September 2018 by Yves Elsen, Chairman of the Board, and Rector St\u00e9phane Pallage, as well as OGBL Central Secretary Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Krier and Virginie Mucciante, head of the University&#8217;s staff delegation.<\/p><p>The collective bargaining agreement was developed jointly by the union, the staff delegation and the rectorate of the University. It sets out the terms of employment and remuneration of University employees. The agreement covers members of the academic and research staff, as well as administrative, financial and technical staff, with the exception of members of the management team, departmental heads of the administration, student assistants and interns.<\/p><p>&#8220;The signing of our first collective agreement is an important milestone in our common efforts to develop a transparent organization. The negotiations took place in a very positive atmosphere, and I appreciate the openness and goodwill of all parties,&#8221; said Rector St\u00e9phane Pallage.<\/p><p>Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Krier also praised the conclusion of the first collective agreement for all university employees. &#8220;The negotiations led to agreement on a number of improvements as compared to the 2015 agreement, as well as a new, transparent compensation system based on the period of service. The new compensation system will be introduced from 1 January 2020. The signatory parties will work together closely to ensure that the classification of employees in the new categories will be carried out under ideal conditions.&#8221;<\/p><p>The agreement will take effect retroactively from July 2018 for a period of three years.
