Eight new professors have joined the academic staff for the winter semester:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gr\u00e9goire Danoy is Assistant Professor in Computer Science and head of the Parallel Computing and Optimisation Group (PCOG). His research lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence and optimisation, applied to large-scale systems ranging from drone and spacecraft swarms to high-performance computing infrastructures. <\/p>\n\n

Prof. Marc-Fabian K\u00f6rner joined the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) as a professor in Information Systems Engineering in January 2026. His research and teaching focus on harnessing digital technologies to address real-world challenges across industry and society. By recognizing the dual nature of socio-technical systems, he emphasizes that impactful digital solutions require a deep understanding not only of technological mechanisms but also of the human and organizational contexts in which these solutions are embedded. His work bridges the gap between technical innovation and effective adoption, empowering organizations to make data-driven decisions, streamline processes, and foster sustainable digital transformation.<\/p>\n\n

Luigi Lonardo is Associate Professor in European Law at the Luxembourg Centre for European Law (LCEL), where he researches on European Union constitutional law as well as the security and defence of the EU. Originally from Italy, he obtained his PhD at King\u2019s College London (2020). He also teaches at Sciences Po in Paris.<\/p>\n\n

Carol Martinez Luna is Assistant Professor in Perception and Robotics and Deputy Head of the Space Robotics research group at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT). She leads research on intelligent robotic manipulation, integrating multi-modal perception (vision and touch), robot learning, and on-ground testing. Her work also explores mechanical intelligence and gecko-inspired interfaces for robust, adaptable interactions in space. <\/p>\n\n

\n \u201f<\/span>\n It is very rewarding to be part of the interdisciplinary and multicultural environment of the SnT at the University of Luxembourg. Rui Pedro Pereira de Almeida is Assistant Professor in Clinical Imaging and Study Director of the Bachelor in Health Sciences \u2013 Medical Technical Radiology Assistant. His work is driven by a strong commitment to advancing medical imaging education and clinical practice, with particular interests in quality management, radiation protection and patient safety.<\/p>\n\n

Katharina Schwarz joined Uni.lu in November 2025 as an Associate Professor in Social Psychology. She studies how the experience of agency emerges in human agents and impacts their behavioural choices, with a special focus on sustainability behaviour. Specifically, she aims to find out which aspects or strategies might motivate individuals and social groups to engage in pro-environmental behaviour. <\/p>\n\n

For anyone interested in working on larger-scale issues, this is the perfect mindset and foundation for truly interdisciplinary work. Christian Wille has been promoted to Assistant Professor in Cultural Border Studies after ten years of establishing the UniGR-Center for Border Studies (UniGR-CBS) at the University of Luxembourg in collaboration with five partner universities in France, Belgium, and Germany. He is Head of UniGR-CBS and specializes in border research from a cultural studies perspective. His work focuses on fundamental research and everyday culture, and he teaches in the trinational Master\u2019s programme in Border Studies. <\/p>\n
