What began in 2010 as a focused partnership has evolved into one of Luxembourg\u2019s most enduring industry\u2013academia alliances, shaping advances in engineering and strengthening the country\u2019s research landscape. This long-term commitment is reflected in substantial investment in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/chairs\/arcelormittal-chair-of-steel-construction\/\">ArcelorMittal Chair of Steel Construction<\/a>, enabling pioneering work on sustainability, circular economy principles, and reducing the carbon footprint on basis of steel structures.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The collaboration has been repeatedly renewed, underlining the strong results achieved and the shared ambition to push the boundaries of steel engineering. In 2024, Prof. Christoph Odenbreit and Dr. Alfredo Romero received the Innovation of the Year Award during the Constructsteel Annual Conference 2024 for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/news\/constructsteel-innovation-award-2024-for-the-arcelormittal-chair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">their outstanding research work on wood-steel connections<\/a>. In 2023, doctoral student Shahin Sayyareh got an award at the Eurosteel 2023 conference for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/news\/petite-maison-project-awarded-at-eurosteel-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">his outstanding paper about Petite Maison<\/a>, a circular economy project which was carried out in the framework of Esch 2022, European Capital of Culture.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-quote-people\">\n    <div class=\"quote-people\" role=\"group\">\n        <figure class=\"quote-people__body\">\n            <blockquote class=\"quote-people__blockquote\">\n    <span class=\"quote-people__quote\">\u201f<\/span>\n    I am proud of our longstanding and trustful partnership with ArcelorMittal, whose generous support of the University has been instrumental in advancing our research on sustainability, circularity, and low\u2011carbon steel structures.
