On Wednesday, 28 January 2026, in Belval, the Rector of the University of Luxembourg, Prof. Dr Jens Kreisel, and the Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg<\/a>, Ms. Anne Calteux, in the presence of Ms. Christine Kormann, Director of Stakeholder Relations and Corporate Services Directorate at the Publications Office of the European Union<\/a>, signed the agreement on the establishment of the European Documentation Centre at the University of Luxembourg (EDC-UNILU)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open to both academics and the general public, and in close cooperation with the Publication Office of the European Union, the European Documentation Centre at the University of Luxembourg (EDC-UNILU) embodies a dual purpose: facilitating the study of European integration and providing access to comprehensive information on the European Union, including its history, institutions, operations, and contemporary developments, through a wide range of both classical and digital sources. In this capacity, the Centre maintains close links with European institutions, contributing to civic understanding and the development of critical thinking\u2014particularly among younger audiences\u2014while supporting research, teaching, dissemination and informed discussion on European affairs in Luxembourg. Through an extensive programme of lectures, seminars, debates, and exhibitions, it provides detailed information on the process of European integration, the EU\u2019s institutional architecture, policies, and mechanisms, as well as the internal challenges facing Europe and those arising from an evolving geopolitical context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European Documentation Centre at the University of Luxembourg (EDC-UNILU) represents an advanced continuation of the \u201cEurope Direct at the University of Luxembourg\u201d project (ED-UNILU)\u2014<\/a>a competitive public history initiative co-funded by the European Commission for the 2021\u20132025 period\u2014which concluded on 31 December 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based in the Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC) on Belval Campus the European Documentation Centre at the University of Luxembourg (EDC-UNILU) is coordinated by the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2<\/sup>DH)<\/a> \u2013 the University\u2019s interdisciplinary research centre, which focuses on high-quality research, analysis and public dissemination in the field of contemporary Luxembourgish and European history. The European Documentation Centre is managed by Dr Elena Danescu<\/a>, a Research Scientist at the C2<\/sup>DH. Maria Eleni Nikoloudia<\/a> is responsible for the EDC-UNILU desk at the LLC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
