A cold breeze was blowing on Belval campus on Saturday morning, but that didn\u2019t deter the visitors from their goal. More than 5,000 visitors explored the study programmes and the modern campus of Belval at the free Open Day 2025 event.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students and staff were dedicated to make this a great first experience of the University of Luxembourg, with guided tours to the campus and its blast furnaces, state-of-the-art science laboratories, the Learning centre, medical simulation teaching units, and a media production environment. And let\u2019s not forget about informal chats happening all around. In total, 25 Bachelors, 47 Masters and 17 continued education programmes are ready to welcome students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m very enthusiastic about the multiculturalism and open-mindedness of the University of Luxembourg, as well as the opportunity to study abroad during a semester, which is very important in my opinion<\/em>\u201d, said Lilou, 16, who came with her mother from the French border region Grand Est to learn more about the law and economics programmes. \u201cThe cursus enables a career both in Luxembourg and all around the world, and won\u2019t lock me somewhere all my life<\/em>.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Friends Jelena, In\u00e8s, Delia and Catalina each came with a specific medical programme in view: the new midwifery Bachelor course starting in September, Bachelors for nursing specialisations and the Bachelor in medicine. For each of them, being able to study with teachers of the national health system and doing internships in their future working environment carries importance. \u201cI\u2019m working as a nurse in Luxembourg, so being able to do a specialisation here is perfect<\/em>\u201d, explains Jelena. \u201cSpeaking with the study directors here was really useful. I hope the new study programmes in midwifery and radiology will have workshops in the next Open Day too<\/em>.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dalia, 17, was studying at university in Ukraine before arriving here three years ago, and wants to start a Bachelor in computer sciences, focusing on cryptography. \u201cI want to study here, I like the university and the kind people here and I hope to be selected. I\u2019m sure the programmes here will help me for my future career<\/em>.\u201d Her friend Daniela, 18, that she met here is also from Ukraine and hesitating between IT and finance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teachers and staff too left the Open Day feeling satisfied. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVisitors interested in a master in law have very specific questions, and we easily spend up to 10 minutes talking together<\/em>,\u201d explains Prof. Mark Cole at the information booth for law courses. \u201cThis is not something I can replicate by e-mail on a day-to-day basis, so I\u2019m glad I was here to meet them<\/em>.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elise, 17 years old, came with her father Herv\u00e9 to check out the course offer for social sciences and finances. \u201cWhat I like about Belval is the modern architecture, it looks beautiful and there seems to be a lot of activities. I\u2019m happy that I came to see it for myself and got the information I needed<\/em>\u201d. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Visitors also joined hands-on and immersive research activities, a strong focus of the University, with specific sessions about AI, drones, robots, mathematics puzzles, the digestive systems, the future of hydrogen energy, and brain and logic games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

St\u00e9phanie Obertin, Minister for Research and Higher Education, also joined the Open Day, to meet with exhibitors, researchers, and prospective students of this highly international, multilingual and interdisciplinary university. Currently, 8,400 students are registered at the University. Among these are more than a thousand doctoral candidates, an extraordinary number for such a young university. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registrations are now open for the launch of the new academic year on 15 September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
