The Biotech 3, opening scheduled for 2026, will foster interdisciplinary research and outreach activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over 7000 m<sup>2<\/sup>&nbsp;of labs and offices<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Minister, the funding decision for the building underlines the strong commitment of Luxembourg to biomedical research, one of the strategic research priorities of the country. It is also an acknowledgement of the successful development of the university, with many research groups evolving and growing over the past decade. The new building will host both laboratory and office spaces for researchers of the\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/lcsb\/home_lcsb\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine<\/a>\u00a0(LCSB) and the\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/recherche\/fstm\/dlsm\/home\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Life Sciences and Medicine<\/a> (DLSM) of the University of Luxembourg, on a total of 7400 square meters. \u201c<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/recherche\/fstm\/dphyms\/people\/jens_kreisel\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Jens Kreisel<\/a>\u201d explains\u00a0Prof. <i>State-of-the art infrastructure and an excellent working environment are very important for the University, to attract the best talents from around the globe and to perform outstanding research on important questions of today\u2019s society,<\/i>, Vice-Rector for Research of the University of Luxembourg.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-spacer is-spacer-size-lg\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"a-brand-new-space-for-research-education-and-outreach\"\n    >\nA brand-new space for research, education and outreach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides serving the University\u2019s mission in research and education, the new building will also include dedicated spaces for outreach activities: a visitor centre to welcome participants who take part in various biomedical research projects and a small exhibition area to showcase research carried out in Luxembourg. The building will also host the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/lcsb\/scienteens_lab\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Scienteens Lab<\/a>, with a new laboratory fully dedicated to scientific workshops with high school students.&nbsp;These areas will contribute to the University\u2019s third pillar: deepening dialogue and engagement with society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"bridging-the-gap-literally\"\n    >\nBridging the gap, literally<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The new Biotech 3 will be located right behind the current Biotech 2 to which it will be connected via a bridge.
