On 8 March<\/strong>, the world celebrates the annual International Women\u2019s Day<\/strong> \u2014 a day that not only pays tribute to all women and their achievements over time, but also an opportunity to raise awareness of women’s rights and gender equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a research and teaching institution, the University of Luxembourg has a responsibility to ensure the fair treatment and support of all our students, colleagues and scientists, regardless of gender and nationality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the Gender Equality Officer is organising three events centred around the International Women\u2019s Day<\/a> to give all staff and students the opportunity to come together and discuss gender equality in two workshops. A third event marks the launch of the new ADVANCE Mentoring Programme to support our young academics such as doctoral candidates, Post-docs, research scientists and Assistant professors, with parts of the programme initially organised for female young researchers to provide them with advice and support in their careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research Luxembourg, in collaboration with the University of Luxembourg and the Ministry of Equality between Women and Men (MEGA), launched the second edition of their video series focussing on women & girls in science<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

The 2nd edition of this multidisciplinary online event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop will, among other topics, answer questions around gender difference in post-traumatic stress, the role of women in peace making, and violence towards women in conflicts.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

The University is launching ADVANCE, a Mentoring Programme to support the career development of our researchers and promote gender equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mentoring Programme will organise different activities to create constructive spaces for young academics to explore their career options and plan their future actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
