General Assembly of the Fondation du M\u00e9rite Europ\u00e9en (24 June 2024)<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 24 June 2024, the Fondation du M\u00e9rite Europ\u00e9en<\/strong><\/a> (FME) elected its new President, Viviane Reding<\/strong><\/a>, former longstanding Member of the European Parliament and Vice-President of the European Commission. We wish her every success in her new role. Viviane Reding will work alongside Simone Beissel, Vice-President, and Jean-Marie Majerus, Secretary-General, as well as the other members of the Foundation <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would like to pay tribute to the Honorary President of the FME, Jacques Santer<\/strong><\/a> – Prime Minister of Luxembourg (1984-1995), President of the European Commission (1995-1999) and President of  the Academy of European Law (1992-2023) – for his tireless commitment and service to Europe over all these years, and we look back fondly on the many events for Europe Direct at the University of Luxembourg<\/strong><\/a> in which he and the Foundation participated since 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n
