As an exciting year 2023 draws to its close, the University prepares for highlights coming up. The new year will start with the integration of the Max Planck Institute for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law (MPI) on 1 January, which will become a new research centre, the Luxembourg Centre for European Law. Its 61 employees will join the University\u2019s workforce, now close to 2,500 employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

January 2024 will also mark a major change at the University\u2019s Centre for Security, Trust and Reliability (SnT). Prof. Yves Le Traon will start his five-year mandate as the new Director of the SnT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

February will ring the opening of applications for admission to the University\u2019s study programmes for the 2024-2025 academic year. For the first time, the study offer will include three new Bachelor of Nursing \u2013 Specialisations in General Care, in Maieutic Sciences \u2013 Midwifery and for Medical Imaging Technicians in Radiology. This offer completes the launch \u2013 in 2023 \u2013 of the Bachelor programmes in Nursing Sciences, through which the University supports the Luxembourg health system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early 2023, Prof. Jens Kreisel took up his mandate as new rector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last year was marked by the celebration of the University\u2019s 20th anniversary, which was celebrated with an official event welcoming His Royal Highness the Grand Duke on Belval campus. The public lecture series organised as part of the campaign will be ongoing until February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, during the Graduation Week taking place from 11-15 December, 1,600 students received their diploma. Among these were more than 200 doctoral candidates receiving their diploma \u2013 an absolute record in the history of the University. Today the University of Luxembourg counts more than 1,000 PhD candidates among its 6,000 students.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
