{"id":19554,"date":"2023-12-01T10:52:07","date_gmt":"2023-12-01T09:52:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=19554"},"modified":"2023-12-03T09:13:59","modified_gmt":"2023-12-03T08:13:59","slug":"international-day-of-persons-with-disabilities","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/news\/international-day-of-persons-with-disabilities\/","title":{"rendered":"International Day of Persons with Disabilities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-free-section section\"><div class=\"container xl:max-w-screen-xl\">\n<p>As part of the University of Luxembourg\u2019s commitment to fostering an inclusive campus environment, we are excited to announce the launch of a special <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLWePPVNHBID6vAZN0la44h4iKhAigUnBB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video series<\/a> to mark this year\u2019s International Day of Persons with Disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>International Day of Persons with Disabilities takes place on 3 December each year and was created by the United Nations to promote an understanding of disability issues and to support the dignity, rights and wellbeing of people with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of our video series is to raise awareness about the experiences of individuals with disabilities on our campus community and to highlight the support available from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/life-en\/equality-inclusion-diversity\/disability-support\/\">Committee of Reasonable Adjustments<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/life-en\/equality-inclusion-diversity\/contact\/\">Inclusion Office, SEVE<\/a> at the University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Disability Awareness Day video series is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLWePPVNHBID6vAZN0la44h4iKhAigUnBB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University\u2019s official YouTube channel<\/a>. Articles 38 and 39 of the University Law gives responsibility to the Committee for Reasonable Adjustments for students with special educational needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, reducing barriers is a shared responsibility that extends beyond the Committee for Reasonable Adjustments.
