{"id":20595,"date":"2022-05-11T10:22:43","date_gmt":"2022-05-11T08:22:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/events\/conference-and-debate-hybrid-european-citizens-initiative-in-motion-11-may-2022\/"},"modified":"2024-10-08T15:46:57","modified_gmt":"2024-10-08T13:46:57","slug":"conference-and-debate-hybrid-european-citizens-initiative-in-motion-11-may-2022","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/events\/conference-and-debate-hybrid-european-citizens-initiative-in-motion-11-may-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Conference and debate (hybrid) :  \u201e European Citizens\u2019 Initiative in motion\u201d (11 May 2022)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-free-section section\"><div class=\"container xl:max-w-screen-xl\">\n<p>In the framework of the European Year of Youth, and of the competitive project \u201cEuropean Citizens&#8217; Initiative from A to Z: A Tool for Engagement and Active Citizenship\u201d funded by the European Union (Erasmus Plus&nbsp; KA203 &#8211; Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education), a consortium of academic partners composed by the University of Coimbra (Portugal), the &nbsp;<i>Alexandru Ioan Cuza <\/i>University of Iasi (Romania), <i>Georg-August <\/i>University of G\u00f6ttingen (Germany), the University of Vigo (Spain) and the University of Luxembourg (Europe Direct),<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Have the pleasure to invite you to the conference:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The keynote speech will be given by <strong>Dr Gisella Gori<\/strong>, Deputy head of office a.i. at the Council of Europe\u2019s Liaison Office to the European Union Institutions in Brussels,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and will be followed by a debate with the audience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will gather students and professors from the five above mentioned countries, and will provide the necessary background for the development of constructive analysis and productive dialogue in the field of European Citizens Initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"biographical-sketch-of-the-keynote-speaker\"\n    >\nBiographical sketch of the keynote speaker<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr Gisella GORI<\/strong> has been working at the Council of Europe since 2002 and is currently Deputy head of office a.i. at the Council of Europe\u2019s Liaison Office to the European Union Institutions in Brussels. At the Council of Europe, Gisella previously worked in the Children\u2019s Rights Division, the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, the Departments of the European Social Charter and of the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 2010 to 2015, Gisella was Senior Political Advisor in the Political, Development and Security Section of the Delegation of the European Union, Washington, DC. Before that she was Adjunct Professor and Visiting Scholar on International Law at George Washington University, School of Law (Washington, DC). She taught European Union Law during the 2009-2010 Spring semester and in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before joining the European Institutions, Gisella was a Lecturer in European Union Law and Constitutional Law (Attache de Recherche et d\u2019enseignement) at the Institut d\u2019Etudes Politiques Robert Schuman, University of Strasbourg, France, from 1999 to 2002. Gisella GORI holds a PhD in European Union Law from the European University Institute, EUI, Florence, (Italy), July 2000. She has published extensively on legal, EU and Human Rights issues. She is fluent in English, French and Italian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"information-about-the-project\"\n    >\nInformation about the project<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The project \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/eci-az.eu\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"European Citizens' Initiative from A to Z\" rel=\"noopener\">European Citizens&#8217; Initiative from A to Z<\/a>\u201d<\/strong> aims to contribute to the development of EU-related hard competences and soft skills in higher education systems. The core purpose of the project is to experiment new methods and tools for learning processes that are to be applied in a collaborative and practical way (<i>learning by doing<\/i>) in which students co-construct, create and launch their own citizens\u2019 initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-dev4-reusable-blocks-image  object-fit--contain\">\n    \n<img decoding=\"async\"
