The aim of this conference is to study the material and intellectual conditions of the historian’s work by proposing an anthropological approach to historical practices. The conference takes place within the framework of a research project<\/a> at the University of Luxembourg focussing on the work and research library of the Luxembourgish historian Gilbert Trausch.<\/p>

\u00ab Puisque nous donnons un nom \u00e0 tout ce que nous savons exister dans l’univers, ce nom peut facilement devenir une m\u00e9taphore pour autre chose. Une biblioth\u00e8que, c’est beaucoup de choses, et peut-\u00eatre une fa\u00e7on de comprendre ces identit\u00e9s passe par le biais de m\u00e9taphores. Sous le nom d’archive, m\u00e9moire, labyrinthe, monde, la biblioth\u00e8que est (ou peut devenir) un espace d’exploration pour les curieux. \u00bb<\/p>

Alberto Manguel est un citoyen canadien n\u00e9 \u00e0 Buenos Aires. Il est l\u2019auteur de cinq romans et de plusieurs essais, parmi lesquels Le Dictionnaire des lieux imaginaires (avec Gianni Guadalupi) ; Une Histoire de la lecture et La Biblioth\u00e8que la nuit. En France, Alberto Manguel est, entre autres, le laur\u00e9at du prix M\u00e9dicis essai et du prix France Culture. Manguel a \u00e9t\u00e9 directeur de la Biblioth\u00e8que nationale d\u2019Argentine de 2015 \u00e0 2018. Il dirige actuellement le centre de recherche sur l\u2019histoire de la lecture (CEHL) \u00e0 Lisbonne.<\/p>
