The house is in Clausen, a district of Luxembourg City; it is set in green surroundings with a view of the historic fortifications and the skyline of the upper city.<br>Once known as the &#8216;Villa Feyden&#8217;, the house was built between 1872 and 1873 by Luxembourgish  lawyer Jean-Nicolas Feyden. The Demuth-Wilhelm family bought it in 1899, but the Schumans continued to rent the property until Eug\u00e9nie Duren died in 1911. The CERE was set up to conduct research on the European integration process and to investigate Luxembourg\u2019s role in this process. One of the rooms in the house now bears the name of Gilbert Trausch, in recognition of his contribution to the academic vocation of the building and his research on European history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July 2016, the CERE joined the University of Luxembourg, together with the Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l\u2019Europe, the Centre de Documentation et de Recherche sur la R\u00e9sistance and the Centre de Documentation et de Recherche sur l\u2019Enr\u00f4lement forc\u00e9.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Since then, the University of Luxembourg has been responsible for the conservation of the Robert Schuman House. And it is the C\u00b2DH, which currently has the task of preserving this place of memory and bringing its historical significance to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Academic events and research activities continue to take place at the Robert Schuman House, at 4, rue Jules Wilhelm, and in the Robert Schuman Library, at 21, place Sainte Cun\u00e9gonde, in the Clausen district of Luxembourg City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Robert Schuman House is a site that is open to Europe, Luxembourg and the university, a meeting place conducive to discovery and learning where everyone is welcome.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"from-clausen-to-europe-in-the-footsteps-of-a-committed-european\"\n    >\nFrom Clausen to Europe.
