{"id":9523,"date":"2025-07-07T14:42:37","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T12:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/c2dh-en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=9523"},"modified":"2025-09-04T08:06:01","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T06:06:01","slug":"history-making-in-martinique","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/c2dh-en\/news\/history-making-in-martinique\/","title":{"rendered":"History Making in Martinique: a new Public History Partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-free-section section\"><div class=\"container xl:max-w-screen-xl\">\n<p>The team of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/c2dh-en\/research-projects\/phacs\/\">Public History as a New Citizen Science of the Past (PHACS)<\/a> research project has the pleasure to announce a new partnership with <strong>Monique Milia-Marie-Luce<\/strong>, associate professor of contemporary history at Universit\u00e9 des Antilles (pole of Martinique), member of the research unit <a href=\"https:\/\/aihp-geode.univ-antilles.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AIHP-GEODE<\/a> UR 6-1, to develop new historical inquiry and practices of public history in Sainte-Marie, with the KKONGO citizen committee at Fonds Saint-Jacques district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2020, The FNR ATTRACT project PHACS has been developing public history and participatory models for interpreting and communicating the past beyond academia in Luxembourg and Europe. Led by Prof. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/c2dh-en\/people\/thomas-cauvin\/\">Thomas Cauvin<\/a>, the PHACS\u2019 team has been proposing, developing, constructing, and evaluating innovative participatory public history frameworks to engage and empower groups, associations, and users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, PHACS continues to tailor this knowledge further with partner initiatives and institutions on the international level, focusing on the production of history with a public perspective beyond Luxembourg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liaising with Monique Milia-Marie-Luce, Dinah Nicolas (head of the Fonds Saint-Jacques estate), Daniel Vallejo (Kannigw\u00e9 association) and Luc Quiatol (Kasinel association), Dr. Myriam Dalal will manage this PHACS collaboration, which will feature joint lectures, community liaison, oral history training of citizen scientists and hands-on activities throughout the coming year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative aims to foster an understanding of how public history practices can uncover silenced stories from a community perspective, with a special focus on previously underexplored subjects in the history of Martinique.
