Tune in to the amazing history of one of the world\u2019s greatest radio stations, based in one of the world\u2019s smallest nations \u2013 Radio Luxembourg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Radio Luxembourg \u2013 The Station that Changed the World’ is a 360\u00b0 transmedia documentary project telling the fascinating stories of one of the world’s most powerful radio stations, broadcast from one of the world’s smallest nations. It explores Radio Luxembourg’s various uses of power and its formative influence on many generations of listeners worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a history that dates back to the 1920s, the radio station has had an immeasurable global impact on generations of listeners worldwide. At the height of its popularity, Radio Luxembourg had about 100 million daily listeners in all corners of the world; Europe and the Eastern Bloc, Canada, the United States, Africa and even Australia. Loved by millions and reviled by the establishment, Radio Luxembourg had the power to make or break careers,  change the course of nations and influence generations of listeners worldwide. By using entertainment as a form of cultural diplomacy, the station shaped not only international pop culture but also European politics, history and identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our transmedia project \u201cRadio Luxembourg \u2013 The Station that Changed the World\u201d tells the interconnected and remarkable stories of this radio station from different perspectives, on several media platforms and by involving global communities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The collective examination of this cult radio station surfaces a transnational and multi-faceted history of the 20th century in Europe and beyond, all broadcast from the Villa Louvigny, the former headquarters of Radio Luxembourg, in the tiny Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The thematic structure of the project is built on the multidimensional societal power of Radio Luxembourg throughout its existence. Our 360\u00b0 transmedia methodology skillfully combines various interconnected media and platforms to engage our target communities and create a sustainable and high impact. With this 360\u00b0 transmedia project, Radio Luxembourg is back \u2013 online, on screen, on air, on XR, on site and on tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By interviewing former disc jockeys, listeners and stars, making tactical use of nostalgia and by critically revisiting official as well as more intimate multimedia archives of Radio Luxembourg, this project depicts the rise and fall of this powerful broadcaster, as well as its huge societal impact and legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
