Over the next five weeks, Adnen El Ghali will be visiting the C\u00b2DH as a Transnational Scholar in Residence with the Contemporary History of Luxembourg (LHI) research group<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adnen is an architect, urban planner and political scientist, and holds a PhD in History from the Universit\u00e9 libre de Bruxelles. His research has focused on governance in urban spaces from the perspectives of security and migration history. More recently, his work has expanded to include relations between Europe and the Muslim world. Since 2025, he has been conducting research at the University of Turin as part of the ERC project REDMIX, \u2018Unpacking Mixedness for an Inclusive History of the Red Sea, 1800s\u20132000s\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his stay at the C\u00b2DH, Adnen will examine Luxembourg\u2019s relations with the Red Sea region and conduct research on this topic at the National Archives. He will also present this project during the LHI team meeting on 6 May. On 20 May 2026, we will welcome him to the C\u00b2DH Research Seminar<\/a>, where he will present his latest book, \u201cWhen Diplomacy Shapes the City: The Consular District of Ottoman Cities (17th\u201319th Centuries)\u201d and outline his ongoing research on the socio-spatial mixedness and urban fabric of Jeddah.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
