By bringing together historians, computational linguists, and computer scientists, Impresso creates tools and methods that allow researchers and the public to interact with large-scale media collections in new ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past months, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/c2dh-en\/research-projects\/impresso2\/\">Impresso team<\/a> has been preparing a major release of the<a href=\"https:\/\/impresso-project.ch\/app\/\"> <strong>Impresso Web App<\/strong><\/a>. This milestone brings three key innovations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"ulux-list\">\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">The launch of the<a href=\"https:\/\/impresso-project.ch\/datalab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <strong>Impresso Datalab<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">The expansion of our corpus with new titles from France and Switzerland, with collections from other countries to follow soon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">The introduction of a revised data access management system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Together, these developments strengthen our mission to support cutting-edge, data-driven research on historical media collections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"the-impresso-datalab\"\n    >\nThe Impresso Datalab<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the release of the<strong> Impresso Datalab<\/strong>, we open a new chapter for researchers who want to go beyond exploratory browsing and engage directly with data and models. At this stage, we offer a BERT model for the recognition of European press agencies and pipelines for language identification, topic modelling, named entity recognition and OCR quality assessment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><strong>Close Integration Web App &amp; Datalab<\/strong>: We strive for seamless, question-driven workflows between both interfaces for scalable reading and versatile exploration. In addition, we have added long awaited titles to our Swiss newspaper collection. This includes \u201cSchweizer Arbeitgeber\u201d and \u201cSchweizerische Handels-Zeitung\u201d coming from the <strong>Swiss Economic Archives<\/strong>, a total of 43 titles from the regional collections of <strong>Biblioth\u00e8que Cantonale Universitaire de Lausanne <\/strong>(BCUL) as well as the German and French editions of the Swiss Federal Gazette also known as Bundesblatt or Feuille f\u00e9d\u00e9rale, a rich source which informs about Swiss political and legislative decision-making provided by the <strong>Swiss Federal Archives (SFA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total, this release adds <strong>53 new newspaper titles<\/strong>, more than <strong>180.00 issues<\/strong> and almost <strong>11 million new content items<\/strong>, such as articles or adverts. From France, this first batch&nbsp; includes major national and regional newspapers such as <em>Excelsior (1910-1920)<\/em>, <em>La Fronde (1897-1929)<\/em>, <em>Le Journal des d\u00e9bats politiques et litt\u00e9raires (1814-1944)<\/em>, <em>Le Petit Journal illustr\u00e9 (1884-1920)<\/em>, <em>Le Petit Parisien (1876-1944)<\/em>, <em>Marie-Claire (1937-1944)<\/em>, and several others spanning the 19th and early 20th centuries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"new-user-access-management-system\"\n    >\nNew User Access Management System<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside the Datalab, we are introducing a new content access management system which allows us to reflect the legal contexts in which our data-providing partners operate as described in our Terms of Use. New user plans reflect the legal frameworks within which our data-providing partners operate, as described in our Terms of Use.
