\nHistory@Play lecture by Clarissa J. Ceglio, University of Connecticut | Greenhouse Studios.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

How can scholarly critiques of games about WWII and Holocaust histories inform game making? And how can making a game about these topics enrich public history research? Such questions are guiding development of Beyond Nuremberg, a VR quest-game to collect, analyze, and contextualize primary sources related to the Nuremberg Trials and Holocaust. The talk will address how the team is using process analysis, formative assessments, and other critical making approaches to engage the practical, theoretical, and ethical questions that arise when using VR to engage with historical complexity, traumatic events, and still-vital human rights issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clarissa J. Ceglio, PhD<\/strong>, is Associate Director of Research at Greenhouse Studios<\/a> and Associate Professor of Digital Humanities<\/a> at the University of Connecticut. Working at the intersections of public history, museum studies, and digital media, she collaborates with museums, libraries, and communities on interdisciplinary public-facing projects that engage diverse audiences in topics of contemporary concern. Ceglio is author of A Cultural Arsenal for Democracy: The World War II Work of US Museums<\/a> and contributor to Radical Roots: Public History and a Tradition of Social Justice Activism<\/a> and U.S. Museum Histories and the Politics of Interpretation<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
