\nOST. The unveiling of the sculpture of Grand Duchess Charlotte, created in 1945 by a former Soviet prisoner of war, at the closing of the OST exhibition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As part of the exhibition \u201cOST \u2013 The Vanished Traces of Forced Laborers from Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus in Luxembourg (1942\u20131944)<\/a>,\u201d which tells the history of four thousand people deported to Luxembourg during World War II, a unique sculpture of Grand Duchess Charlotte was discovered. Created in Luxembourg in 1945 by a former Soviet prisoner of war under the pseudonym Juri Wiardo (Yuri Yezersky, later known as George Virine), this work bears witness to an extraordinary fate in which artistic creativity endures despite captivity and exile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bust of Grand Duchess Charlotte, discovered for the first time in 80 years, will be presented to the public at the exhibition\u2019s closing event, accompanied by a short presentation about the history of its creation and the fate of its creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following this event, the bust will be transferred to the collection of the National Museum of Archaeology, History, and Art (MNAHA), making the exhibition closure more exceptional. Visitors will have an opportunity to explore the exhibition in its entirety and appreciate its full significance in a friendly and reflexive atmosphere for the last time before it moves in a different format to Belval, another former camps location in Luxembourg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
