\nHands on History with Stephan Werner, Technische Universit\u00e4t Ilmenau<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Acoustic measurements can be used to accurately record the room acoustics of historical environments or spaces in general. The data can be used, for example, to create the most authentic room sound possible in virtual environments like in VR or AR applications. Furthermore, analyses can show how room acoustics change in the environment and how this affects perception. In addition, acoustic room simulations can be generated that allow changes in the environment, for example by adding or removing walls or changing the acoustic properties of the walls, to be plausibly reproduced. The presentation provides an insight into the measurements using selected examples from the electronic media technolgy research group and demonstrates their relevance in the field of cultural heritage based on the research project MusicSphere<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephan Werner <\/strong>has been acting head of the Electronic Media Technology group at the Technische Universit\u00e4t Ilmenau since 2020 and completed his doctorate on the topic of \u201cAcoustic Room Divergence Effect\u201d in 2019. In addition to teaching in the fields of acoustics and spatial hearing, his research focuses on immersive audio technologies. To this end, he is working on research projects that deal, for example, with the modeling of spatial hearing or the development of synthesis and manipulation methods. The work is applied in the fields of multimedia co-presence, auditory attention, and acoustic digital twins as cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
