In this presentation, Sandrine Kott will discuss the main conclusion of her book, A World More Equal: An Internationalist History of the Cold War.<\/em> The book explores the post\u2013Second World War era and examines the Cold War paradigm that shaped it, from an international perspective centered on organizations and associations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It argues that these international organizations served not only as arenas where the discourse of the Cold War was staged, but also\u2014perhaps more importantly\u2014as spaces for dialogue and collaboration among officials and experts from the three worlds of the Cold War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The language and practices of these organizations reveal a world structured by logics that often diverged from the dominant Cold War narrative. By uncovering these alternative logics and the \u201cunderground\u201d organization of global relations, the book invites us to view the Cold War from a different angle\u2014one that brings the problem of global inequality to the forefront.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\nAbout the speaker<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Sandrine Kott<\/strong> is Global Distinguished Professor at New York University and Professor Emerita of Modern European History at the University of Geneva. Her research focuses on the history of labor and social policies in both capitalist and socialist societies. She is currently studying international organizations as spaces for the circulation of knowledge and expertise in economic and social fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
