The series \u201cHumming Home\u201d was launched on 16 January 2025 with a discussion and live music by the Mohamed Najem Jazz Quartet.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series \u201cHumming Home\u201d was launched on Thursday 16 January, in partnership with the Konschthal artspace<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The event started with a short presentation of the research project “Are We Home Yet?<\/a>” with Dr. Myriam Dalal<\/a> from the Center for Contemporary and Digital History. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dalal then discussed with curator Charlotte Masse the theme of the group show “Dis-placed” currently on display at the Konschthal, and how the work of Franco-Palestinian artist Taysir Batniji speaks about the idea of displacement and exile from both a personal and collective perspective. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Batniji’s work connected with Dalal’s quick questions to Franco-Palestinian artist, composer and musician Mohamed Najem. Najem spoke on the meaning behind his music and how his creation process speaks on the idea of belonging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The much-anticipated Jazz quartet then took the stage to perform some tunes from their latest album “Jaffa Blossom”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recording gives you an idea of how engaged the audience was that night!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Humming Home is a series of events that aim to look at how different cultures, community groups, and people use sound, music, and silence to talk about their history. So, stay tuned for the upcoming events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
